WPC to integrate CATS modules
01/09/2008
WPC is currently adapting groundbreaking software that will enable police users to merge their child protection and domestic abuse databases, and help forces manage all vulnerable people cases more efficiently.
This development work follows WPC being awarded a second contract in April to continue supporting the Case Administration and Tracking System (CATS). Originally developed for Nottinghamshire Police, CATS helps child protection and domestic abuse units manage and track the progress of case files.
The system provides a central database for all such cases and gives officers a much clearer picture of vulnerable people referred to them. The data collected can be used to piece together vital information on a particular child's family background, helping officers make more informed decisions about their welfare.
The CATS system has now been implemented successfully in the child abuse units of 14 police forces, and the domestic abuse unit of 6 forces.
