COMPACT 4.1 RELEASED
06/2009
WPC's COMPACT v4.1 (Community Policing and Case Tracking) has now been released. This new version corresponds with several national guidance changes.
New features include:
A new section associated with the Person record for Social Authority and Social Worker details.
Fast-Track tasks. This new functionality will allow users to add template tasks to a Person record, meaning these tasks will automatically be produced if and when that person goes missing again. This new functionality replaces the old-style Address Checks.
In addition to the Fast-Track tasks, improvements to the existing tasking system in COMPACT include:
A new Approved task status, which is a stage above the existing Completed status. The Completed status has been replaced with Completed Pending Approval. Tasks can be approved by officers with the correct level of permission.
All tasks now have the ability to have addresses associated with them. Previously, only the Address Check and Associate Check task types had this function.
A number of improvements have been made to the way narratives interact with tasks, including providing more comprehensive information in narrative entries and the new Grouped Narratives report that can be used as a summary of all activity on a particular case.
The latest users to adopt the system to help manage their missing persons cases are Lincolnshire Police, Durham Constabulary, Dyfed Powys Police and Gwent Police (joint venture) and Sussex Police. The total of police forces now using COMPACT has reached 21, approaching half of the forces in England and Wales.
