COMPACT WEB SERVICE FOR MOBILE

08/2009

Mobilise COMPACT with our APIThe new COMPACT application program interface (API) web service has recently been developed to enable forces to interface easily with the COMPACT database. By purchasing the API forces are able to mobilise their COMPACT data.

The purpose of a mobile COMPACT solution is to provide the necessary elements of the missing persons system directly to officers in the field. The COMPACT API Web service will enable officers without a terminal to have access to briefing and tasking information through smaller, mobile devices such as a mobile telephone or palm-top computer.

The new API mean that forces can develop their own missing persons application for use on a Blackberry or PDA that links seamlessly with the main COMPACT database. Alternatively, as well as supplying the interface WPC can produce its own mobile COMPACT application that can be made available over a mobile device.

There will be several functionalities available via this service. These are:

  • Being able to view the Briefing Sheet. The Briefing Sheet in COMPACT is a page showing all the current mispers. It can be filtered by missing report date range and also by location.
  • Being able to view person details, their latest report details and their latest risk assessment details, given a PID, or as a link from the Briefing Sheet.
  • Being able to view a list of tasks, given a specific PID, or a User ID (if tasks are assigned to that User ID), or as a link from the Person/Report details.
  • For more information about the COMPACT API, please contact Glenn Bewes on 0117 908 1484 or via this form.
