WILTSHIRE PILOTS ROAD TRAFFIC COLLISION SYSTEM
06/2005
WPC Software is helping Wiltshire Constabulary speed up the process of dealing with road traffic collisions (RTCs). The force urgently needed to replace the system used to record and store details of RTCs and turned to WPC for help. The previous, stand alone system had become outdated and a more user friendly, efficient and networked solution was required.
The new RTC Indexing system provides a direct link to WPC's Ferret document management software, enabling documents relating to incidents to be stored together with details about the individuals involved.
"The new system will facilitate significant time savings and greatly improve the service that police forces can provide to the public when dealing with this often delicate area of policing,” said Dave Kelly, WPC's business manager for Ferret. Networking not only enables 24/7 access to the documents across the force but also means that staff across the whole organisation will be able to access and operate the system in the same manner.
John Warman, Wiltshire Constabulary's project manager for the new RTC indexing system, said: "WPC have provided a very effective system tailored to suit the force and have provided good support, particularly helping with the transfer from the previous system.
"Because the new system is networked, it enables records to be entered and viewed across the whole force area - we could not do that before. It will speed up the retrieval time for records and help us do our jobs more efficiently.”
