WPC AND NDI DEAL AIDS FIGHT AGAINST CAR CRIME   10th August 2004

WPC Software, a leading supplier of computer solutions to UK police forces, has announced a new partnership deal with Crewe-based integration software specialist NDI Technologies.

WPC is using NDI's powerful ConsoliData product to provide automated access to the Police National Computer (PNC) for users of its innovative software products.

The company has developed products for a range of policing applications, from firearms and liquor licensing to missing persons and abandoned vehicle administration. They include WPC's ELVIS vehicle information system which has been developed to help police forces tackle car crime.

To aid the day-to-day administration of vehicle information processed by police officers, ELVIS (Easy Link Vehicle Information System) is used to retrieve and update PNC vehicle reports. It includes a backlog service to ensure that reports are stored and re-sent, even when the PNC is down or unavailable.

NDI's ConsoliData enables modern access methods to be used to connect to and operate mainframe and other legacy systems. This allows the ELVIS software to automate all of the usual operator functions to maintain police vehicle information on the PNC.

"This saves both time and resources and ensures that officers have a wealth of local and national vehicle information available at their fingertips," said Dan Le Brun, ELVIS business manager at WPC Software.

"The optional interface to the PNC ensures that officers are aware of the current status of a vehicle before entering new data relating to it. When a new report is accepted, it is automatically added to the PNC by ELVIS, removing the need for traditional double keying of information.

"We will be offering NDI's ConsoliData interface to access the PNC from our other products, including WPC's IMPACT software which is designed to help police forces speed up the process of investigating and recording missing persons cases."

Duane Mayes, business development manager at NDI Technologies, said: "We are delighted to welcome WPC Software as our latest Technology Integration Partner. NDI's ConsoliData, XML toolkit and legacy host web services allow data from any back-end system to be integrated into the latest web-based applications, shielding developers and end-users alike from a multitude of often complex systems.

"As a new partner with an established presence in the criminal justice market WPC plays an important part in further extending NDI's commitment to the public sector in the UK , and NDI are delighted to be associated with WPC in this way."
