WPC Inca INCA - Incapacitant spray management system
Overview

INCA has been developed in collaboration with Leicestershire Constabulary to administer the issue, return and monitoring of incapacitant spray in a safe, controlled and managed process.

  • It supports operational officers by reducing the administrative problems associated with incapacitant sprays.

  • It enables coordinated, force-wide management of the movement and use of incapacitant sprays.

WPC Software has recently enhanced the system to cater for new types of incapacitant such as Pava (or Captor as it is commercially known), which is becoming increasingly popular with UK police forces. After trials by a number of forces, these pepper-based sprays have been found to be more effective in certain situations; they are likely to be adopted by many more forces in the future.

INCA is a web-based application which means it is easily accessible through the force intranet on any workstation anywhere in the force. Information on the system is presented in a clear and simple manner without cluttering the screen. Completion time is greatly reduced through the use of drop down menus and list boxes. With only a minimal amount of training, officers can quickly become confident and productive with INCA system.

System Benefits

  • Canisters can be tracked at any time on the system, whether it be in stores, transit or with an officer. This provides huge time savings especially when faced with tracking down a faulty batch of canisters.

  • A full audit trail means that fewer canisters will go missing.

  • A warning facility for canister expiry means that officers will always have safe and functional canisters in operation.

  • Issue and training checks prevent users from issuing officers with more than one canister.
