Dyfed Powys goes live with new Vulnerable Persons Case Management System 'WPC Protect'

Dyfed-Powys Police has recently gone live with WPC Protect, our new vulnerable persons case management system.

WPC Protect has enabled investigators within Dyfed Powys Police to manage vulnerable persons cases in one comprehensive system. The system helps to reduce bureaucracy and provides an efficient method for storing, retrieving and sharing case information.

The system includes an interface to the Police National Database (PND) and an address gazetteer. We have also built an interface to Dyfed-Powys Police’s custom PNI Intelligence system, allowing data from WPC Protect to be viewed by officers alongside data from other systems in one place.

T/Detective Chief Inspector Ifan Charles said:

“To be able to go to one system and access vital information that previously would have meant us searching across a number of platforms, changes the way we investigate.  It makes us much more efficient and effective and ultimately enhances our ability to safeguard our communities.”

“Anything that takes time and bureaucracy out of a system is of significant value to us as a service and, time is never more precious than when we are dealing with vulnerable people.”

Oliver Clare, WPC Protect’s Business Manager, said:

“WPC Protect was designed from the ground up to be easy to integrate with other force systems. We jumped on the opportunity to create an interface to Dyfed-Powys’ force-wide PNI ‘golden nominal’ system to both lookup and synchronise person details with force intelligence. I’m very pleased with what the team was able to deliver. This sets a precedent that could be reproduced at other forces.”

WPC Protect has been developed by WPC over the last 12 months, using the latest web technologies to provide an efficient and user friendly solution to help tackle investigations related to vulnerable persons. This system enables investigators to manage incident types such as Child Protection, Domestic Abuse, Adults at Risk and is flexible enough to cater for a number of related incident types.
