WPC Software has partnered with what3words to integrate their location service into WPC’s police vehicle recovery solution, ELVIS, to assist Norfolk and Suffolk Police.
what3words (w3w) provides a precise and simple way to talk about location. They have divided the world into a grid of squares that are 3m x 3m and assigned each one a unique 3 word address. This service allows for precise locations to be given quick and accurate descriptions.
WPC Software has integrated w3w into our vehicle recovery solution, allowing Control Room Staff from Norfolk and Suffolk to easily pass a vehicle’s location by simply using the 3 word address. ELVIS will then pinpoint the precise location of the vehicle ready for the Recovery Garage to be deployed. This will save valuable time when passing information and critically, avoid the mistakes that leave officers waiting for recovery vehicles to arrive that are on route to incorrect locations.
